Announcing the TeensTakeAction.com 2005 Contest
Teens and T'weens between the ages of 9 and 19 are invited to enter the 2005 TeensTakeAction.com Contest. You can do a project by yourself or get a group of friends, a class, a school, or even a church group. Maybe you're a member of a civic organization or the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts and need to do a service project in for a badge. Or maybe your school requires you to do a service project. The prize? $500. The deadline? December 31, 2005.

The project must have been completed in 2005. Entries must be submitted with a completed entry form, required photographs, and required verification by email or snail mail from September 30, 2005 through December 31, 2005.

There will be a 2006 Teens Take Action Contest for projects that will be finished next year.

Getting started . . .

More information is coming, but to get started go to the TTA Contest page. Return for updates and upcoming contest rules and submission requirements.

In the beginning . . .
The idea for this site came out of the research I did for my first young adult novel, Divided Loyalties. One of my characters is an environmental activist. During my research I discovered many stories about teens who were willing to take action in their community to bring about a positive change.

What's coming

TeensTakeAction.com will be a chronicle of what teens are doing around the world to make a difference. I'll post stories as I find them or even as you and your friends tell me about them. There will be a variety of links that will offer resources to those who want to take the next step. I'll post interviews with kids, teachers, organization leaders, writers, anyone who can provide some tips and insights into how we can make this a better world--and the best place to begin is in your own backyard. Like Jon and Trisha, in my novel, perhaps you can identify a need or a wrong and decide to do something about it.

Watch for more contest information!
